The doldrums: Things just don't seem to change…
Do you ever have days where you wake up and for what seems like no reason, you are down in the dumps?
You unsuspectingly lay your head down thinking rest would do you some good, and low and behold, the next morning shows up with an ugly face! This feeling drives me crazy! I woke up this way Monday morning, and I thought to myself, "I have absolutely no reason to feel this way - what has gotten into me?"
I noticed the heaviness continuing throughout the day. I was in a fog, I even started noticing some head pressure. I decided to get to bed a little earlier Monday night and woke up Tuesday feeling a little better, a little brighter, but the memory of the feeling Monday still lingered along with the dull headache that was developing.
As many of you do, I try to make the best of a day when I can, even when I feel not so great. There's work to be done, there's people to help, but in the back of my mind, I am monitoring and managing. I'm monitoring unresolved emotions waiting to be solved, I'm wondering what the headache means, and I'm thinking about all the things that I need to get done.
The reason I go into so much scrupulous detail is because I know many of you who are reading this can relate, and yes, I am thinking of you because I think about the people I help and am meant to help all the time!
When I went back through the scenario Monday, here is how I found an answer for myself to move forward. This past weekend, we were out of town for my grandmother's 90th birthday party. We ate lots of food that I was not used to, and I knew this could contribute. Also, I know that I have not been checked and adjusted in over a month with my chiropractor. I don't always like getting adjusted (because I want to be holding!), and yes, even I put it off. I know when an adjustment is necessary, I feel and function so much better. When it's the right time, it's the right time, so I am setting up an appointment with my chiropractor this week to get checked.
I share this story because I believe many people will relate to that feeling when you are ready to solve your problem, and there are often multiple different scenarios that need to change. Hang in there. It's going to be easier than you think. Consider making a decision to improve your diet, improve the way you feel and function, and make a conscious effort to take care of yourself; this will help change things for the good.
